Frequently asked questions
- Q: What kind of sign do I need?
- A: Express Signs offers many different types of signs for indoor and outdoor use. For outdoor signs corrugated plastic is a common choice for yard signs and temporary signs - most of you will recognize these as standard real estate and campaign signs. For someone looking for a longer term sign we offer aluminum and alumalite which are great for signs being mounted to buildings the only difference in these two materials is the thickness. The aluminum is a thinner light weight sheet where as the alumalite is 3/8" plastic with aluminum on both sides of it making it more rigid and durable. For indoor signs we have a large variety of materials we can print on from paper to plastic and everything inbetween we offer several types of materials that fit any need or budget.
- Q: How do I figure square feet?
- A: Most of the materials we sell are priced based on square footage. To figure square feet you take the length times the height ("length"x"height"=square feet). If you click on the quote tab you can see an example of how we would quote a vehicle wrap.
- Q: What is your normal turn around time?
- A: The majority of jobs that we do are produced in house. Anything that is done in house and the materials are in stock has a normal turn around time of 1-2 business days. There are certain items that are more cost effecient for us to outsource and these items are dependent on these companies as well as shipping time. Any items that we are out of stock on can be ordered and most items and products come in within 1-2 business days as well.
- Q: What kind of files can I send?
- A: This is one of the most common questions asked and not always the easiest to answer. The type of files and size of files can be different for any job. We accept almost all file types including .psd .ai .eps .indd .jpg .cdr .png .tiff and .pdf. The main thing to take into account when asking about files is to ask yourself what are you wanting to do with these files. If you are doing a vehicle wrap or a billboard size sign then we are going to need large high resolution graphics or pictures. Most of the time the only way to get these is to find stock pictures online or with a nice digital camera - cellphone pictures are usually not a very high quality and therefore don't turn out well when blown up. However if you are wanting a canvas made or pcitures printed your cellphone picture might work just fine. Bottom line - if it looks fuzzy on your computer imagine enlarging it to the size of sign you are wanting - if you are questioning how good it's going to look then you probably need a better picture.
- Q: What if my files are to large to send?
- A: The easiest way to handle this is if they can be brought in on a cd or flash drive but we know not everyone can jump in the car and drop their stuff by. We have a public ftp site that is setup for just this reason - we require everyone to call to get connection information as posting it on the internet would not be wise. One quick call and we can walk you thru connecting to the ftp and we can begin on your job promptly. There are some other alternatives that some of our clients use such as YouSendIt which is a free easy to use website used for sending large files.
